| La fin d’année est toujours très chargée, mais rempli de joie. Avec noël, nous préparons le retour du Sauveur en se souvenant de sa première venue. Il ne peut pas y avoir de meilleur façon de préparer la nouvelle année, comme il n’y a pas de meilleur façon pour préparer l’éternité. Nous ne pouvons faire face à demain qu’en faisant face à notre passé. Nous ne pouvons regarder l’avenir avec espérance qu’en comptant sur la grâce de Dieu en dépit de notre indignité! Nous avons lu l’histoire de de la naissance de Jésus et chanté les cantiques de noël à l’hôpital, dans un EHPAD, à l’église… C’est l’histoire vraie de la naissance de l’homme le plus important de l’histoire de l’humanité, qui apporte la paix entre les communautés comme nous l’avons vécu le dernier dimanche lors du culte à l’église libre du Mont des Oliviers. Malheureusement notre société cherche à obscurcir et remplacer la vérité par l’illusion d’un bonheur matérialiste temporaire qu’offre l’histoire fantaisiste du Père Noël! Deux messages qui s’opposent, une histoire vraie et une fiction. Le premier offre la paix de Dieu au monde, une merveilleuse espérance pour tous les hommes, même malades ou en fin de vie. Le second, un bref instant de bonheur illusoire qui malheureusement se termine souvent mal à cause des excès de manger, de boire ou de conflits restés enfouis. Pour ma part, alors que je contemple 2026, je préfère me compter sur l’histoire vraie de la venue de Jésus-Christ, né de la vierge Marie pour nous sauver, de la colère de Dieu et de nous-mêmes! Je vous souhaite à tous une BONNE ANNEE 2026 dans la bénédiction de ce merveilleux Sauveur. | The end of the year is always very busy, but filled with joy. Through Christmas, we prepare the return of the Saviour by remembering his first coming. There can be no better way to prepare for the new year, as there is no better way to prepare for eternity. We can only face tomorrow by facing our past. We can look to the future with hope only by relying on the grace of God in spite of our unworthiness! We read the story of the birth of Jesus and sang the Christmas carols at the local hospital, in an old people’s home, at the church... It is the true story of the birth of the most important man in human history, who brings peace between communities as we experienced at the joint service for the last Sunday of the year at the Free Church ‘Mont des Olivers’. Sadly our society seeks to obscure and replace the true story with the illusion of a temporary materialistic happiness offered by the fictional story of Santa Claus! Two messages that oppose each other, one a true story and one fiction. The first offers God’s peace to the world, a wonderful hope for all men, even to those who are sick or at the end of their life. The second, a brief moment of illusory happiness that unfortunately often ends badly because of the excesses of eating, drinking or unresolved conflicts. For my part, as I look to 2026, I prefer to trust in the true story of the coming of Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary to save us, from the wrath of God and from ourselves!
